Modern classical is classical music defined roughly by the start of the modern era : near the end of the 19th century to the mid-1970s. Classical music from the latter half of the century (post World War II) is usually defined as contemporary classical music, although the two terms are used interchangeably and are often confused.
In general, modern classical is influenced by a larger array of musical genres than traditional classical music. Some composers incorporated technological developments of the modern era in their compositions (new recording techniques and electronic instruments).
