Freeform, originally known as trancecore and also known as freeform hardcore, is a subgenre of hardcore. Emerging in the early 1990s, it shares its BPM range (140-160) with the closely related genre acidcore. Freeform is generally composed in 4/4 beats, has acid lines, and often hard trance sounds. The genre has developped under the musical characteristics of hardcore before gradually deviate to trance.
