Ambient pop emerged in the wake of dream pop and shoegaze during the early 1990s, typified by its distinct combination of ambient sound design and conventional pop structures. Though frequently considered a minor extension of dream pop, ambient pop sets itself apart from its predecessor by incorporating a greater variation of styles ranging from Krautrock to even drone. Much like dream pop, however, ambient pop's sound is often emphasized by blissed-out atmospherics and shimmering electronic textures.[1]
